Zoe's New Gear
Zoe has been busy getting fitted for new stuff recently. She has been wearing glasses for a couple weeks now, and she received her new custom stroller this week. We are very thankful to not have to add hearing aid to this list :)
The glasses she adjusted to pretty quickly...a bit of crying, pulling them off, refusing to eat while they're on, outright anger. We're past most of that now. She still pulls them off sometimes, and sometimes she fusses when I put them on her. For the most part, though, she is wearing them, and she's okay with it.
The stroller is really great...just her size (and adjustable for growth), pink, very easy to maneuver, a large tray, a canopy...HEAVY. It's taking a bit of getting used to for both of us; it's not nearly as simple as our trust Graco travel system stroller...push of a button, flick of a wrist, and out it pops, ready to go...not that easy. There are foot plates to adjust to be even, canopy to add, tray to attach (TRICKY), and then sometimes a baby to convince to like the new stroller.
Her physical therapist thought we should get it because she isn't walking yet, and although we aren't giving up or anything, when she starts her pre-k program in February (more on that later), she may or may not have mastered the skill. She will need a way to get around other than crawling (on a school floor-ew, surrounded by walking people), and her teachers may not want to carry her all the time...she's not getting any lighter.
Anyway, the stroller is basically a custom wheelchair for toddlers, and even when she is walking, we will still use it as a stroller when we need one. If you are going to use a stroller, this is the cadillac version. Our insurance paid for it, and I'm really glad because when I saw the itemized price list (and total), I nearly fell over.
I'm sure it will get easier to pull out and put away with practice, and the kind man who delivered it and demonstrated the set-up assured me that with use it will loosen up and get easier that way too.
So here are a few pics of Zoe trying it out. We took it for a couple walks this week too; it handles very nicely (once it's set up and the kid is in it)...haha.
